WeatherEye Mourvedre 2022

The 2022 Mourvèdre Estate was fermented with 15% whole clusters and matured for 16 months in 13% new French oak. It has slowly unfurling scents of boysenberry, blueberry, white pepper, iron, thyme and floral perfume. The full-bodied palate is elegantly styled with fragrant, herbal flavors, soft, supple tannins, bright acidity and a long, peppery finish. 176 cases were made.

The 2022 Mourvèdre Estate is also rockstar stuff. Coming from two separate parcels and all varietal, it has a crazy nose of white and black pepper, leather, sandalwood, and both red and subtly blue fruits. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered on the palate, it has ultra-fine tannins and a great finish. As with the Grenache, this was bottled in March and is a riveting Mourvèdre to drink over the coming decade or more.
