New Zealand Wine

Sauvignon Blanc is by far the most famous of all the wines grown on this tiny island country. Marlborough examples are the benchmarks of what southern hemisphere Sauvignon Blanc can be. Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling can also be stunning when grown in these vineyards that are blessed with moderate temperatures and lush vegetation. Pinot Noir, especially from the Central Otago,  develops into a very European style of wine here and is a stark contrast to examples of the grape from both Oregon and California.
