There are many regions of the European continent that produce fine wines. Switzerland is home to fine wines from the foothills of the Alps to the shores of the many lakes, with a primary focus on lighter bodied whites. Poland is home to not only the largest Apple orchards in Europe, but also fine fruit wines and meads. Romania is a very old producer of wines from the ancient inland vineyards to those that approach the Black Sea. Macedonia is home to some of the oldest vineyards on earth and in recent years, international reviewers are beginning to heap praise upon them. And don’t forget Georgia, and the Crimea. Both are homes to ancient wine culture that some claim is the earliest known.
