Australia is a massive country but actually very little is planted to grapes. For the most part, they are all along the southern coast and on the islands that are just off shore. The growing regions are extremely varied here. The Barossa Valley is most famous for the legendary Shiraz that hails from there. The Margaret River is home to stunning Rieslings and Cabernet based wines. Chardonnay and Semillon can be found in various locales along with some stunning late harvest Tokay and Muscat. For Pinot Noir, Tasmania produces some examples that will rival the best in the world.
