From the Andes to the sea, Argentina is a varied landscape to say the least. The largest consumer of beef per capita in the world, it is only natural that full bodied red wines are the dominant choice here. Even though Malbecs from the area around Mendoza are by far the most famous, don’t forget the fabulous Cabernet Sauvignons and the various Bordeaux styled blends. The whites from the cooler spots are also stunning values and not unlike the same varietals when grown in other parts of the Southern Hemisphere. Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc can all be fantastic when grown in this varied landscape.
