Slovenia Wines

When political borders fall, oftentimes the underlying culture that predates them flourishes. Such is the case in Slovenia. A very old and proud winemaking heritage is found here, just to the east of Italy. In many cases, the vineyards are actually within view of the border on both sides. Crisp and delightful whites produced in the foothills of the Alps that are very much in the Italian style are to be found here as well as world class reds produced from both indigenous and western grape varieties. Near the coast of the Adriatic, one will find more warm climate varietals that again, can be very Italian in style.
