Dead Horse bucks
its name with rather lively aromas of black currants,
dried lavender, fresh-turned earth, and a Mediterranean
touch of red tomato paste. Flavors are a rich mix of black
cherries and dark plums, with notes of saline and cedar
hovering on the perimeter. The wine spent 20 months in
60% new French oak, and its velvety tannins and lifted
acidity help to create a slick and slippery mouthfeel.
