Leonetti Aglianico 2016

The 2016 Aglianico Serra Pedace Vineyard is all varietal from a single vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley. Brought up in a mix of French oak and neutral botti, it gives up a vivid purple hue to go with a crazy exotic nose of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with notes of white pepper, sandalwood, dried herbs, and baking spices. Beautiful on the palate as well, it's medium to full-bodied, has ripe, supple tannins, good acidity, and a balanced, layered style that keeps you coming back to the glass. This beauty should easily evolve for 10-15 years, probably longer. There's nothing else like this in Washington State, that's for sure.
