Normally thought of as being a Spanish grape, Tempranillo is seeing expanded plantings in the Walla Walla and Columbia Valleys. Capable of building big, tannic wines with lots of structure, it is also not uncommon to see more fruit driven versions with dried berries, damson plum and raspberry notes being the focus.
