Sangiovese is the legendary grape of Tuscany where it is the framwork of such famous wines as Brunello and Chianti. In Washinton, it tends to produce even bigger bodied wines with notes of dark fruits and coffee that are not often seen in the Italian versions. Gorgeous all by itself, it is often blended with grapes such as Syrah or Cabernet, much like the 'Super Tuscans' of European fame.
