Riesling was the first grape to gain both national and international  praise for Washington State. The Columbia Valley has multiple microclimates in which Riesling can mature properly and develop into world class wines. The Columbia Gorge, Ancient Lakes and Wahluke Slope all have plantings that rival the best in the world. The largest producer of Riesling in the world, Chateau Ste Michelle, is located here.
