Petit Verdot is the darkest and most brooding of all the Bordeaux varietals and is most often added to blends in very small amounts. However, the generous growing season in Washington lends itself to full ripeness allowing the intense fruit of this grape to mature without massive tannins that appear in other sites. Look for opaque color, intense violet hues, wild blackberry fruit and firm structure. These are very long lived wines.
