Lemberger

Lemberger, or sometimes 'Blue Franc' or 'Blaufrankisch' hails from Germany and Austria originally and was planted in experimental amounts on Red Mountain in the late 1970's. Fading in popularity, often due to its name, it can make both bright and lively wines that resemble a Cru Beaujolais or a brooding wine that is akin to a Rhone, depending on the whim of the winemaker. More often than not, it is also a fantastic value.
