The classic wine growing areas of South Africa are just outside of Capetown. In Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, much Sauvignon Blanc is to be found and much of it in a style that is most similar to those of the Napa Valley. However, in the cooler spots to the south and east, near the coast at Hermanus and at Cape Point, world class wines with bracing acidity and intense citrus notes that rival the best of France and New Zealand abound.
