Origin Zivo Vinyard Eola-Amity Hills Gouges 2016

Pinot Gouges is a white-skinned mutation of Pinot Noir, discovered in Henri Gouges’ vineyard in Burgundy in the 1930s, and then later smuggled into the United States. Fruit comes from the from Zivo vineyard, where gentle sloping sedimentary soils soak up long summer days, and the vines give generously, with ample cluster size and tons of flavor in the skins. We direct-pressed about 60% of the fruit, and de-stemmed the rest on top to allow skin contact throughout fermentation and 5 months of aging. 60 ppm SO2 added before bottling, un-fined and unfiltered.
