A very proud and traditional wine industry is to be found in Hungary. Although closed behind the Iron Curtain for decades, a rejuvenation is in place there now with an influx of knowledge, materials and capital from various points in western Europe. Egri Bikaver (bulls blood) is the most famous and robust red from Hungary and the legendary Tokaji, is one of the most profound dessert wines ever produced. Dry versions of Furmint, the primary grape of Tokaji are now becoming available and have proved to have a very universal appeal to those that love the dry whites of Italy and Austria.
