The history of the Bitter has come down to us from far off times: from the Middle Ages. This was a period of history in which naturally occurring herbs were used as a natural remedy because of their medicinal properties.
A solution of alcohol blended with a mixture of roots, different kinds of bark, spices, seeds and other herbaceous or plant ingredients produced solely for curative purposes and with strong bitter taste gave birth to the term "bitter", which over time came to have precisely the same meaning as it does in English. This is why the word 'bitter' is believed to have this origin.
