Wohlmuth RE Sauv Blanc 2021

From an extremely steep (90% slope) site at 465 to 530 meters in altitude on red as well as dark slate, the 2021 Ried Edelschuh Sauvignon Blanc GSTK is higher than ever in terms of acidity (7.5 grams per liter) and has enormous extract. Bottled with no residual sugar, the wine opens with a deep and intense nose of ripe and elegant fruit aromas intertwined with flinty aristocratic slate and iodine notes. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and concentrated, fully dry yet rich Sauvignon with ripe and elegant acidity that leads to a long, refined and saline finish. The wine was aged on its full lees for one year without added sulfur and for another five months on its fine lees. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the Zieregg in May 2023 and in Grafenegg in September 2023.
