Charlie Hoppes has been the key man making the BBQ wines for a couple of years now, so it is only fitting that the holiday offering this year would be a wine that showcases his talent to the utmost degree. Charlie is most famous for his Red Mountain winery, Fidelitas and one could argue that he knows the vineyards there as well as anyone. Having made wines from various spots on the Mountain for years, he now also has his own estate vineyard to work with. In putting together this blend, we gave him 100% free reign to build the best wine he could. His natural choice was to focus on Red Mountain so we turned him loose and this is the result. A classic Bordeaux blend from various vineyards on Red Mountain with 61% Cabernet, 25% Merlot and 14% Cab Franc, it is built with the cellar in mind, but with some time to open up a bit, it is gorgeous now as well. Big and rich with those Red Mountain notes of coffee, mocha, black currant, pie cherry and tufts of sage in the nose with more black fruits, candied violets, bakers chocolate and espresso in the mouth. 185 cases produced
